Our four founders are Stella George Stern Perry, Helen St. Clair Mullan, Jessie Wallace Hughan, and Elizabeth Heywood Wyman.

SYMBOLS & purpose

Our badge is formed from the monogram of the Greek letters, AOII, one letter superimposed on the next. Our badge was determined and created on the basis of simplicity.

Our jewel is the ruby, symbolizing love.

Our New Member pin is a gold sheaf of wheat. It symbolizes individual members bound together by the common bond of sisterhood, AOII.

Our quarterly magazine is " To Dragma", meaning "the sheaf."

Our colour is Cardinal, the colour of the heart.
It is the deepest and purest shade of red.

Our flower is the red Jacqueminot rose. Where other NPC groups use a crest, AOII proudly displays the rose symbol.

The unofficial mascot of AOII is the Panda.  It is the only animal that does not have any natural enemies.

Our International Philanthropy is Arthritis Research and Juvenile Arthritis.
